Unamunda is a tribute to the made up language from David Ives' play, The Universal Language. The phrase, "When you free fall, find if heaven waits," chosen by Ives for its acoustical similarity to the numbers 1-8 when spoken in English, occurs several times throughout the 10 minute performance. In addition, the violin plays a funny role in this piece. He or she is constantly battling the others due to etiquitte, or lack thereof. Lots of momentary abandon in this piece, particularly when the pianist stands and shouts, "Now it's time for my solo!" |
